The Division Resurgence Targeted Loot Guide

Targeted Loot is the most important efficiency unlock for endgame farming in The Division Resurgence. Available at level 20, this system lets you select specific gear types before entering the Dark Zone or certain open-world activities, dramatically increasing drop rates for the items your build actually needs. Without Targeted Loot, you grind random purples hoping for usable mods — with it, you farm Striker Drone skill mods, Vector weapon rolls, or Bulwark armor plates on purpose.

Unlock requirement: level 20

You cannot configure Targeted Loot until your agent reaches level 20. Before that milestone, focus on story missions, control points, and general purple gear from the open Manhattan map. The Dark Zone Hub remains accessible earlier, but serious mod farming should wait until Targeted Loot is active.

The Base of Operations also unlocks the Equipment Improvement Station at level 20, pairing recalibration with targeted drops for complete build refinement.

How Targeted Loot works

Before starting a Dark Zone session or eligible activity, open the activity menu and set your Targeted Loot category. The game weights drops toward your selected type for the duration of that run.

Dark Zone farming loop with Targeted Loot

1. Set Targeted Loot in activity menu.
2. Enter Dark Zone via nearest gate — check Map Districts for gate locations.
3. Clear red-icon landmarks and DZ leaders for high-quality drops.
4. Fill contaminated bag (nine slots max).
5. Extract before twenty-minute timer expires.
6. Recalibrate at Base of Operations if rolls are partial.

Repeat with the same target until gear slots cap, then switch targets.

Open-world Targeted Loot

Level 20 Targeted Loot also influences certain open-world activities outside the Dark Zone. Use it for safer farming when rogue PvP is undesirable. Dark Zone still offers the highest rarity ceiling for contaminated high-end yellow gear.
