The Division Resurgence Controller Controls

Gamepad setup for Ubisoft Connect PC, Steam, and supported mobile devices.

Last updated:

Controller support is a core part of The Division Resurgence on both mobile and PC. Whether you prefer an Xbox Series pad, DualSense, or a compact mobile controller clip, the game maps movement to the left stick, camera to the right stick, and combat actions to shoulders and face buttons in a layout familiar to Division fans. On PC through Ubisoft Connect you can alternate between controller and mouse without relaunching, which makes controllers attractive for couch play or long co-op sessions even when keyboard aim remains the competitive default.

Supported controllers and connection

On PC, plug in USB or pair Bluetooth controllers through Windows before launching Ubisoft Connect. The client detects Xbox, PlayStation, and many generic XInput-compatible pads automatically. On mobile, enable Bluetooth pairing in iOS or Android settings, connect the controller, then open Resurgence — button prompts should switch from touch glyphs to pad icons within seconds. If prompts stay on touch, disconnect other peripherals that might claim priority and restart the game. Tablets with USB-C hubs can wired-connect pads for lower latency during Dark Zone extractions.

Default layout overview

Movement uses the left stick with sprint on a stick click or dedicated button depending on preset. Right stick controls camera and aim, with aim-down-sights on left trigger and fire on right trigger — standard for third-person shooters. Cover, vault, and interact share a context button, usually face-bottom, while reload maps to face-right. Skills sit on bumper pairs with ultimate on both bumpers or a long-press variant. The inventory and map screens respect controller focus navigation, so you can manage gear without touching keyboard. Compare with PC Keyboard & Mouse if you hybridize inputs on desktop.

Deadzone, sensitivity, and aim assist

Open Settings → Controller to adjust horizontal and vertical sensitivity independently for hip-fire and ADS. Start with inner deadzone around 5–10% to eliminate stick drift without slowing fine aim. Outer deadzone can stay low unless your pad is worn. Aim assist strength follows platform norms — slightly stronger on mobile than PC. Reduce assist before PvP if you notice target snapping pulling you off center mass. Test each weapon class in the shooting range: LMG recoil needs lower sensitivity than SMGs. Document your final values; they do not sync when you continue on another device via cross-progression.

Controller UI vs Keyboard/Mouse Exclusive UI

Mobile settings include toggles for Controller UI and Keyboard/Mouse Exclusive UI under external device options. Enable Controller UI when playing pad-only so prompts and layouts match buttons. Enable Exclusive UI only when using mouse and keyboard. On PC, the game swaps prompts dynamically when it detects input, but mobile players must set toggles manually before a session. Running both peripherals simultaneously on tablet requires choosing which UI mode is primary to avoid conflicting reticle behavior.

Switching input on PC mid-session

Ubisoft documents that PC players may swap from mouse to controller without exiting to desktop. Pick up the pad and press a face button; menus and HUD icons update. This helps agents who navigate inventory with a stick but prefer mouse for sniper encounters. Exclusive UI can remain enabled — input detection overrides presentation. Competitive squads often standardize one input per role to simplify callouts, but matchmaking does not segregate by device.

Controller play in cross-play groups

Cross-play matches PC and mobile agents in shared regional servers when modes allow. Controller players on mobile face the same matchmaking pool as PC mouse users in many activities, so cover discipline and gear tuning matter more than input type. Link your Ubisoft Connect account before grouping so loadouts and specializations carry over. Read Cross-Play & Progression for account linking rules and guest-account warnings.

Hardware recommendations tied to specs

Smooth stick response needs stable frame rate. Minimum PC specs require Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 3400G, 8 GB RAM, Intel UHD 630, Windows 11, and 30 GB storage; recommended settings target NVIDIA GTX 1650 or equivalent for 1080p60. Thermal throttling on phones reduces FPS and makes aim assist feel sluggish — use a cooling clip for long raids. Details sit on Platforms & Specs.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers agents ask most often.

Does The Division Resurgence support PlayStation controllers on PC?

Yes. Ubisoft Connect PC recognizes PlayStation, Xbox, and many generic controllers. Use Steam Input only if you install via Steam after August 5, 2026.

Can I use a controller and keyboard together on PC?

You can switch active input mid-session, but combat works best with one primary scheme at a time so prompts stay consistent.

Why do I still see touch buttons with my controller connected?

On mobile, enable Controller UI in Settings. On PC, press a controller button after launch so the client detects the pad.

Do controller settings sync across platforms?

No. Progression syncs through Ubisoft Connect, but sensitivity and deadzones are per device. Re-tune when switching phone and PC.
